Coming out of a long and continuing New York based performance activity, three masters of their own instruments like Luca Santaniello on drums, Francesco Geminiani on saxophone and Phil Donkin on bass meet an excellent young pianist from Switzerland with an impressive resume of international collaborations , Gauthier Toux.

Luca Santaniello is a drummer, composer and educator living in New York City. His proficiency in many different musical situations and settings, and his strong versatility skills on the drums have earned him wholehearted praise in the United States, Europe and South America. He entered the international scene by performing with some of the great masters of jazz such as Joe Lovano, Lee Konitz, Benny Golson, Ron Carter and Roy Hargrove and recording on major music label Verve/Universal in the album of japanese jazz pianist Chihiro Yamanaka “ Running Wild”, and on some of the most acclaimed European jazz artists albums like incredible pianist Roberto Tarenzi with whom he recorded two albums “13 Floors” and “ Dig Deep” for the label Music Center, great tenor saxophonist Emanuele Cisi “Where or When” for Max Jazz -horn series, and saxophone virtuoso Dmitry Baevsky “Some Other Spring” for the French label Rideau Rouge.Luca cheers another long time , deep and strong collaboration, the one with trumpeter Carlos Abadie, with whom he has been playing since 2003 and has recorded 2 albums “Immersed in the quest Vol.1” and “Immersed in the quest Vol.2-Carlito’s way” for record label Truth Revolution Records.
After graduating with High Honors at the Conservatory “L.Perosi”, he relocated to the United States in 2001 at the age of 21 to study at the Brooklyn-Queens College of Music in New York City.
In 2009 Luca Santaniello has been chosen by a jury of world jazz masters like Carl Allen, Ron Carter ,Kenny Washington and Billy Drummond, to be part of the Artist Diploma Program at Juilliard School, the world leading institution in arts education. In this highly selective post-master and full scholarship program, Luca Santaniello represented Juilliard School throughout United States, South America and Europe through performance and educational outreach activities sharing his music knowledge in master classes and workshops with university level students from all over the world.
Francesco Geminiani– sax
Born in beautiful Verona (Italy), he began his musical studies at an early age choosing the saxophone as his main instrument.
Subsequently, In 2009 Francesco won the Siena foundation scholarship, being selected as the recipient by a jury of top-level international jazz exponents.
After obtaining his diploma in Verona, in 2010 Francesco moved to Switzerland completing his studies at the “H.E.M.U. (Haute Ecole de Musique) of Lausanne”. During his stay in the Helvetic Land he established himself as one of the most in demand saxophone players, performing at events such as “Ascona jazz”, “Verbier Jazz Festival”, AMR jazz festival in Geneva and Montreux Jazz Festival. He was selected to take part in the “2011 DKSJ All Star Band of Switzerland”.
In 2012 was Francesco was the recipient of the F. Jost foundation award in merit of his outstanding work as a performer and consequently won in the same year the national “Zorzella Award”, a jazz soloist competition held in his hometown.
In the summer of 2012 he obtained a scholarship for the prestigious “New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music”, that enable him to move to New York City to obtain In 2014 his Bachelor in arts with honorable mention.
With great musical guides, in 2014 he formed the Playwood chamber ensemble, for which he composed and arranged the entire repertoire successfully creating a unique blend of classical music and jazz that stands out for its originality.
In 2015 he released the album “Colorsound”, entirely recorded and produced in New York City with some of the best up and coming young musicians: Rick Rosato and Bass and Mark Schilders on drums. His trio has performed in the New York and European jazz clubs during the winter tour in the end of 2015.
Francesco Geminiani is constantly performing and recording internationally, he has been touring Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland and Slovenia; performed alongside some incredible musicians such as Eddie Henderson, Billy Cobham, Dado Moroni, Bill Stuart and Doug Weiss.

Jazz pianist Gauthier Toux was born in Chartres, France, in 1993. He started studying music at age 8 in the Yamaha schools of music before moving on to classical piano at the Chartres conservatory. He graduated in 2015 and he studied under Emil Spanyi, Matthieu Michel, and George Robert. During his years of training, he also studied at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark under Baptiste Trotignon, Franck Avitabile, and Benoit Sourisse. In October 2013, he created the Gauthier Toux Trio (Maxence Sibille, Kenneth Dahl Knudsen). Their first album, More Than Ever, was released in February 2015. The trio has performed in major festivals such as Jazz à Vienne, Jazz à Orléans, Cully Jazz, Jazz onze+, Copenhagen Jazz Festival. The trio has played at Sunset Sunside, the Théâtre d’Orléans, the AMR (Association pour l’encouragement de la musique improvisée), the Périscope, the Moods, the Institut Français in Agadir, and
the Chorus. Gauthier has also won awards at the Monaco Jazz Soloist Competition, the Piano Forte Jazz Competition, and the Nottingham Piano Solo Competition.
In his still young career, he has already played with many bands – groups like Raphaêl Imbert, Furio Di Castri, Cauliflower, the Kenneth Knudsen Orchestra, World Citizen Band, Rootwords.

Phil Donkin has risen to become one of the premier European bassists of his generation.
Born in Sunderland, North-East England, Phil grew up in a musical family and was surrounded by a vibrant local music scene. Not long after taking up the bass guitar at the age of 12, he was quickly playing with local bands from the area. Phil moved to London in 1998 to deepen his musical studies. After graduating from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2003, Phil had a fruitful early career as one of the UK’s most in-demand bassists. He performed and recorded with many great British based musicians such as Kenny Wheeler, Evan Parker, Julian Arguelles, Tim Garland, Stan Sulzmann and Gwilym Simcock.
In the following years, Phil’s reputation spread beyond the UK and he regularly toured Europe with the likes of John Abercrombie, Marc Copland, Bill Stewart, Greg Osby, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Chris Speed, Ari Hoenig, Jonathan Kreisberg, Terrell Stafford, David Binney, Tyshawn Sorey, Nils Wogram’s Root 70 and many others. He also performed with jazz legends Quincy Jones, Roger Kellaway and Eddie Henderson.
In 2010 Phil moved to New York City where he furthered these musical relationships and began many new ones, playing with artists Ben Monder, Kevin Hays, Adam Rogers, Mark Turner, Seamus Blake, Steve Cardenas, Bruce Barth, Edward Simon and many others.
He is now based in Europe and is active on both sides of the Atlantic.
Phil has played on over 50 recordings as a sideman both in Europe and the U.S, on various labels. His album ‘The Gate,’ was released on Whirlwind Recordings ltd in March 2015 featuring Ben Wendel, Jochen Rückert and Glenn Zaleski.
